Have you ever had this happen? You’re going along, thinking you’re heading in the right direction, when all of a sudden it doesn’t feel so right anymore. This happened to me recently.
I think many small biz owners look for that big break for their business — the thing that will propel them to the next level or help them reach a goal. We need to have dreams and goals; otherwise, there’s no growth.
Anyway, an extensive project landed in my lap last year. I almost thought it was a scam because of how big it was. But it wasn’t a scam; the project was real.
I had to do a lot of praying over the matter.
Would I be able to accommodate such a large order?
How many employees would I need?
How much space?
And the list went on and on.
It Seemed So Right
Over many months, little by little, those questions started to receive answers. I had to learn a lot, such as what to do about turning Blossom’s Barn into an LLC, what equipment I might need, and all the research that went with that.
I vacillated from wanting to buy a cute space to what we ultimately decided, which was to expand the current shop. Part of me still wishes we had nabbed that cute space, but I digress.
Contracts, payroll, hiring, etc. — it was a bit of a learning curve, for sure.
Then there was the testing.
The testing that never ended.
But it did.
Until It Was Wrong
I made a lot of soap. A lot. I spent a whole month testing and making product, trying to get the perfect bars. I researched, tweaked, and adjusted my methods, over and over again, to no avail.
It just wasn’t going to work for me.
It wasn’t working for them, either.
While I tried and gave it my best, it just wasn’t good enough.
And that’s okay. Why? Because I gave it my all.
I could walk away from all of it because I knew I tried. I knew there wasn’t more for me TO try. I was mentally exhausted from it all.
I reached a point where I just knew this wasn’t the project for Blossom’s Barn, no matter how hard I worked. And while I was a bit sad about shutting that door, it was also a huge relief.
God was right there with me.
I tend to be an optimistic person and look for the good in all situations. I learned a lot. I mean, A LOT.
I don’t think for a moment that God had me go through all of this for no reason. He has a purpose for my life, and I needed to go through this to learn some stuff. I don’t consider any of it a waste of time or effort. I learned what I like to do and what I don’t want to do, with regards to the type of work Blossom’s Barn will provide. It’s all good!
All’s Well That Ends Well — And This Ends Well!
So why the long story? Well, remember all those soaps I made? These are the same wonderful formulations that you’ve come to love, in a much smaller size.
Some of you have come to me saying how you wish our soaps weren’t so big! Yes, our soaps are quite large! I love to offer value with our products. They are generous in size, and they last a long time.
These new soaps are half the size of our current offerings. They would be lovely on the edge of the sink, ready for hand-washing, or as a facial soap. Save those luscious, big bars for the shower!
There are four scents to choose from, two of which (Lavender and Roses + Cream) are from the current line. The other two (Cucumber Melon and Jasmine) will only be offered until they are gone.
These soaps are created with high-quality, phthalate-free, fragrance oils.
All four of these scents can be found under the Guest Soap tab. Just choose which one you want when ordering. You can also find the Lavender and Roses + Cream on their respective soap tabs (just select which size you want).
Once it is determined you LOVE these smaller bars, more will be made in other scents.
And I know you will love them. They feel so nice in your hand and make lovely gifts, as well.
